Weather conditions:

At the ornithological research camp at East Bay considered the season to be relatively mild, sunny and calm. Weather records from the nearby community of Coral Harbour show mean temperatures of -6.2 øC in May, 2.3 øC in June, 11.9 øC in July, and 9.3 øC in August. Average winds were 17.9, 19.5, 16.4, and 18.2 km per hr for each month, respectively.

Birds in a Common Eider duck colony had a first arrival date of 9 June; nest initiation was in late June, and the hatch period was 21 July to 8 August. Workers estimated a good nesting year with 90% hatching success.
